How a phone call to a village footballer turned into a years-long collaboration.

By Thomas Müller's side since 2019.

Thomas Müller ends his career with the DFB

You only get one chance to end your career. There is no second attempt. The fact that Thomas and his team asked me to film this moment is the absolute highlight of our collaboration.

But it all started somewhere else entirely. In 2019. With a phone call.

In 2019, I set myself a goal: to work with a professional footballer. I had no network, no contacts, and no idea how to go about it. But I had one conviction: If I want this, I have to show that I can do it. And I had to show it before it actually happened. So, I asked a footballer from my village if he’d be up for my "Four Hour Series." Four hours, a few videos, a few photos. I put it all online. And then? Nothing—at first. Until, a few weeks later, GoPro got in touch. With a project. Featuring Thomas Müller.

One project turned into many. To this day.

What started in 2019 with a four-hour shoot has evolved into a multi-year collaboration. Ongoing social media content, GoPro, Therme Erding, and Turbogrün - with new projects constantly emerging alongside Thomas and his team. It is not just a one-off shoot, but a partnership where both sides truly value what the other brings to the table.

6 years. Over 30 shoots.

What began with a phone call in 2019 has evolved into more than 30 joint shoots - ranging from a single session in Munich to a multi-day production in Vancouver. This is not just a one-off reference, but a collaboration that has grown over the years.

And then we headed to Vancouver.

I was there when Thomas took the leap to join the Vancouver Whitecaps. Not just for a single shoot, but over the course of several days. From his arrival in a new city to the first steps of a brand-new chapter. A move to the other side of the world, documented up close.
